Another wonderful Sunday in the desert! I don’t know about all of you and where you are in the world but man, I feel like I’m living in a desert, it’s so darn hot! Watching this show did nothing to help me cool down that’s for sure! I decorated the place all up for the evening in some awesome animated textures from Sanna. One wall had a full moon and another a crescent. The floor was covered in stars and everything shimmered and sparkled!
“Tell me the story of how the sun loved the moon so much,
he died every night to let her breathe”
Tonight was a theme night, Moonlight, moons, evening etc. Shanny was our hostess this evening in a gorgeous moon-white dress that was cut down to there and cut up to here and WOW was it stunning! She looked beautiful, and did a wonderful job greeting our guests and keeping the party flowing! Thank you so much Shanny! We do all love you so!!
~Babypea & Gunner “Do not swear by the moon, for she changes constantly. Then your love would also change.” ~ William Shakespeare (Romeo & Juliet)
Our first act was Babypea and she performed a song I absolutely adore. The song is “I’m Kissing You ” by Des’ree from the movie Romeo and Juliet. The set, the song, the theme is just so beautiful. Baby danced on a small piece of land against a large full moon draped in flowing black. Gunner played piano below and gently turned as he played…but the focus was all on Baby. If you know the story of Romeo and Juliet, she pretends to die so she can be with Romeo. He finds her “dead” and kills himself minutes before she wakes up. She then kills herself because without him, she cannot live. *sighs* what a love story! Her dance was a dance of love and grieving. It was breathtaking! What a way to start this evening!
~Ariel with CC, Luna & Rhonda “The stars look very different today.” ~ David Bowie (Space Oddity)
Next on the stage was Ariel and she was joined by CC, Luna and Rhonda and they danced to Lindsey Stirling’s “Stars Align”. Ariel’s set was space with Ariel dancing on the Earth. The other lovely ladies join her as the dance on the clouds and on the ground. Once they all come together, they rise and dance around the Earth, their white flowing dresses and ribbons moving and swirling around them. At last they all float away another dimension, leaving this place behind.
~Pathmaker with Hitomi, Sammy, Annie & Lotta
“Everyone is a moon, and has a dark side which he never shows to anyone.” ~ Mark Twain
Next was Path and his dance was one that he said “describes a nightmare.” He danced to a mix of “Bad Moon Rising” by CCR with Hitomi, Sammy, Annie and Lotta. His set changed from one nightmare to another starting out with him whistling and walking through a corn field (that in itself is a nightmare for me). Jumping out of the corn is a cat (Hitomi) and she attacks him and rips up his skin, tearing and biting at him. Crawling away from this attack the scene changes to a room and a massacre has occurred here with blood and bodies everywhere. Sammy comes out and shoots him but as she shoots, her gun grows bigger and bigger! Path becomes one of the bloody masses in the room as the set changes again. Now he is in Hell. Annie comes out of a large devil/demon head as a demon herself and dances towards Path. Demons float up and around them…when will this nightmare end for him!!! By now this nightmare has made a mess of him and the set once again changes to a graveyard. Path limps in and we think, he won’t wake up….but Lotta floats down to him as an angel and takes him from this nightmare! Phew! We were worried about you Path!
~Devlin “We ran as if to meet the moon” ~ Robert Frost
Devlin took the stage next and danced to “Moonlight Serenade”. His set was a forest and Dev was a forest creature wearing wings and uh, not much else. The whole set sparkled and shimmied in the darkness as he danced in the moonlight, around the groves of trees. This is a beautiful song in itself and the set was relaxing to watch as the music played. Wonderful job Dev!
~Winnie “Yours is the light by which my spirit’s born: – you are my sun, my moon, and all my stars.” ~ E.E Cummings
Winnie was our next dancer and she danced to “Moon and Moon” by Bat for Lashes. Her set was so darn pretty. Winnie danced on a shimmery blue stage that could be water, could be a reflection of the moon. It was beautiful and tranquil. Winnie was dressed in a simple white dress with lovely flowers in her hair and she danced in front of the two very full moons. This was another relaxing set to watch and listen to. I felt all mellow and relaxed *sighs* amazing job Winnie.
~Kellan with Ridley, Emmie, Sammy & Claire
“We are all like the bright moon, we still have our darker side.” ~ Kahlil Gibran
Kellan was next with a song from the Guild Wars Soundtrack called “Fear Not This Night.” Her set was dark with moving lights and glowing flowers. Kellan was dressed in a fairy-like outfit that made her stand out against the darkness. Suddenly out of the darkness we see these shadows move and they too are faries but they are sinister devilish ones cloaked all in black. They follow her and track her movements as she dances, almost attacking her. The set changes and she is chased through them by these sinister individuals. Finally she is left alone and they all disappear. Fear not this night…
~Queenie “Moonlight drowns out all but the brightest stars.” ~ J.R.R. Tolkien
I was next and I chose “It’s Only A Paper Moon” by Ella Fitzgerald & Delta Rhythm Boys. The vision I had with this song and set was a large moon (a paper moon) and I was lowered to the stage laying on the moon. There I stayed and danced as the stars shone brightly around me and sparkled and shimmered against the clouds. Below me was a cardboard sea. I wanted a vintage feel to the set and to my outfit because this song was done in 1945. It was a short song but an oldie and goodie for sure.
~Selene with Azure, Yukio & Cici
“The moon is a friend for the lonesome to talk to.” ~ Carl Sandburg
The last act of the evening was Selene and she danced with Azure, Yukio and Cici to “Enter Telephone” remix of Lady Gaga ft Beyonce vs Metallica. This set was so damn cool. I don’t know if I can do it justice. The set begins with the girls entering a Verizon store. They linger around and the song starts…and OH MAN! This set takes off! The floor moves up in pieces and back down and back up and they all move independently moving and lifting the girls with it. As someone who knows how she made this happen, it isn’t and easy task and she made it seem so simple! The sets ends with all the pieces of the floor moving back into place and the girls leaving the store and going about their day. What a way to end the evening! But, did anyone get the phone!!??
WOW, what a show! Thank you to everyone that came and watched by the light of the moon with us. We had a great time getting the sets and dances together for you! Thank you to our sponsors and everyone that comes and supports us each and every week. Thank you to Rebecca who keeps that music playing so we don’t dance in the silence!!
