The Winds changed this week, we swept away the sand and we blasted into space, that’s right, we went Sci Fi! Lotta snuck in under the dark of night and changed up the place just for the occasion. I don’t think anyone was probed…the aliens seemed to be nice here, *phew*! Several of us performed more than once act tonight….sci fi has so many choices to build a set and dance to. I know I had trouble choosing! As always the lovely Annie greeted and danced until the show began looking lovely in her greenish glow, white space-like dress….nice choice for the evening! Annie always looks rather stunning doesn’t she? I love to see what she has chosen to wear week to week.
Of course mid way she changed into a cool space/robot outfit! That’s our Annie!!

1 Annie

Up first was FEED ME SEYMOUR!! I mean, Ariel and friends dancing to “Little Shop of Horrors” which is about a nerdy florist shop worker who raises a vicious crazy plant that feeds on human blood. At the end of the movie, Seymour learns the plant is in reality an alien from outer space and he has to destroy it before more little Audrey II’s are made *dun dun dunnnn*. Personally I loved the dentist! Anywhoo…Ariel and friends danced in front of Mushnik’s Flower Shop. Audrey II is there waiting to chomp on some dancer that gets a little too close! She then took us “Downtown” to Skid Row. The music from the movie is so much fun I know we were all singing along! So much fun Ariel!!

2 Ariel

We took care of the plant and cleaned up the stage before Adam and Muse Blinded us with Science. Adam was working on something at his table when Muse appears and distracts him…no kidding huh how could he NOT be distracted? They danced around the lab making more heat than the Bunsen Burners managed to. We got our science geek on and sang along because, admit it, you all know the words!!

3 Adam & Muse

I changed my shape just a little, convincing Path he needed to do the same. Morphing into aliens we took off in our UFO. Path not stopping to ask for directions when we were lost, we exited the ship and danced together to “I’ve Got You Babe” by Sonny & Cher. If you know who Sonny and Cher are, you would know Cher was like 6 feet tall and Sonny was about 4….Path and I are the opposite…I think I channeled more Sonny and Cher! Deciding to forgive him, we got back into the ship in hopes to find our destination. Maybe he used the GPS on his phone this time!

4 Queenie

Adam and Muse were back as very cool robots and they danced in front of the periodic table…chemistry geeks unite! The song was pretty cool and I wish I had learned it when I was in high school because I didn’t so so well in that class…*hangs head*. If my teacher dressed up like them and sang that song….instant A! As the danced the elements lit up with the song….excellent job you two!

5 Adam & Muse

Ariel was back, this time with more friends but the theme was a little different. We were in Space…The Final Fronter….Captain Kirk (Path) and Crew member (Dev) were taking a little break from their stressful job on The Enterprise and went to relax in the local space bar. Im not sure if they expected a time such as this though. Ariel and Rhonda made sure these boys went back to the ship satisfied as they shimmied and danced for them to Lady Gaga’s “Just Dance”. Go get ’em ladies!

6 Ariel

I snuck back on stage, this time I was more myself as I floated and danced to “Planet Claire” by the B52’s. “She came from Planet Claire
I knew she came from there. She drove a Plymouth Satellite. Faster than the speed of light….” The B52’s music and lyrics often are so out there and don’t seem to make a lot of sense but damn, you just want to get up and dance to it anyway.

7 Queenie

Lotta took the stage after me and brought Path back (again). This set was so much fun but I may be biased as I love Star Wars. Lotta was Leia in the infamous bikini from Return of the Jedi and Path was Han Solo. They had escaped the Empires clutches and were on the run. Managing to make it back to the Millennium Falcon they told us their story as they danced. “Who are you calling scruffy looking?”, “I love you. “, “I know”. I laughed and danced along with them in my seat because Lotta chose a dubstep version of The Cantina Band song that was just so crazy and fun! Excellent act Lotta and Path!

8 Lotta

Last but never least was Winnie (and me) and she had us wearing this crazy light bulb alien outfit and dancing to “Blue” by Eifel 65. In her own words “Winnie Cinnamon (winniefred) laughs….I like the bulbs…they’re alien….they’re holiday…they’re blue!” They were a lot of fun either way! We dropped into Winds via spaceship, yes the ship flew into Winds…..it was cool! We exited the ship and danced in our new little make shift home complete with a small tent and fire pit. I don’t know if we were waiting for the ship to come back for us, if she needed to “phone home” and get ET to give us a ride or we were doomed to live there forever…..either way, she planted a little earworm there and I bet many sang it most of the night! Oh maybe that was the mission!

9 Winnie

Thank you all for coming and supporting the dancers and Winds. If you would like to take a more concrete supporting role in Winds, please contact Rebecca Dembo. She is looking for more people interested in keeping Winds strong, and in order to do that, she needs sponsors. We love dancing for you each week and we all hope you can help us continue to do that!

Thank you to Rebecca for making sure we have music each week, she keeps SAM in check fighting him tooth & nail some weeks!

I hope you all had a wonderful time and we all hope to see you next week, same time, same place! Our next THEME WEEK will be Dec 20th and it will be a Christmas/Holiday theme. Winds will be transformed into a winter wonderland…I don’t know what we will do with all this sand! Can you believe Christmas is only 26 days away! AHHHHH!! Have a wonderful week!

Just in case anyone was interested in a new dance gizmo….with classes and for some reason you don’t subscribe to Kat’s Blog

A Kat and A Mouse

Kat&Mouse SOPA Logo WhiteAfter a successful first-run of classes at K&M SOPA, I am working on revamping much of the curriculum.

In addition to the courses already offered, I am thrilled to announce that in 2016 I will be offering classes on The Artiste.

I will be teaching courses aimed at helping new owners/users to understand the main functions of the HUD and palette.

New users will create ‘working models’ for reference for various abilities of the HUD and palette.  These ‘working models’ are invaluable when working solo to re-create Artiste abilities.

In addition, Yummy will be teaching ‘Master’ level courses on various topics, including advanced features like the Thrower, Grouping functions, and Dance Diva.

Yummy has been writing a series of Tutorial articles on the Artiste to explain some of its capabilities and the thought process behind its creation.

In case you’ve missed them, you can find them under the ‘Product…

The night of the turkeys…and some other wonderful dances. Review 11.22.15

Well, Thanksgiving is rapidly approaching here in the US, but you never would have know it what with all of the random turkeys running around backstage last night….oh….wait….um…..  By turkeys I mean actual turkeys, not my fellow dancers..and clearly we stand on the precipice of a holiday with all of the gobbling going on in IM 🙂

We had a fantastic, fun lineup last night and Annie was there to greet our fans and entertain them until the strains of the Night Boat To Cairo wafted through the speakers to let us know that the time to curtain was just about there…Annie wore a sexy little number, and she eventually did turn into a turkey, but it appears that Rebecca was kind and only took a shot of her looking sexy…not sauced or buttered.

1 Annie

Our opener was Devlin…our Mr. Dependable…the man who shows up week after week in an estrogen filled theater with camels and lets us pick on him, dress him up in skirts and tease him relentlessly and keeps coming back for more. He did a reprise of a set of his that I really like to “Missed Me” by The Dresden Dolls.  I love the steampunk vibe of this set with the gears and steam and machines chugging away.  Then there’s the costume for this set…it is wild and fun and it makes for a great dance.

2 Devlin

Annie and Hitomi were up next for a cute duo to Billy Joel’s “It’s All Rock and Roll to Me.”  Annie did a great job setting up when we lost an act literally at the last second due to a crash.  Life sometimes like to throw rocks at our hostess and Rebecca, and though we like to blame SL for everything…this was a RL thing and they were smooth as peanut butter fixing the order and SAM.  Annie got her cute little soda shop up and running and she and Hitomi had us all butt dancing right along with them in their cute little 50s inspired outfits.

3 Annie & Hitomi

Ariel and Devlin were up next, and I bet you were expecting a sexy little duet…well, it was a duet alright, it just involved Ariel chasing a headless Devlin turkey all over a kitchen while forcing him to tapdance to “Slide Some Oil and Watch Me Dance” from the Wiz soundtrack.  To say that we were all laughing might have been the understate of the evening.  I for one was almost crying I was laughing so hard.  Great set Ariel…flipping awesome!

4 Ariel

Moving along to the lovely Miss Lotta, who was joined by Queenie and Rhonda to MC Hammer’s “Can’t Touch This.”  This iconic song was staged on a basketball court with two enormous boom boxes and some fab dance moves.  IM was rife with memories of times past; Aquanet, that beloved hairspray that left your hair crunchy when you tried to go to sleep at night…blue mascara and eyeliner and just about any other crazy thing we did in the 80s.  I love a set that has us all remembering some of the most fun memories that show that we may all be different people in RL, but we sure as heck shared some of the same crazy life moments.

5 Lotta

Adam and Muse were up next with a mix of Usher’s “DJ Got Us Falling In Love”. This was a big set…with lots of sexiness…they were joined by Alena, Hitomi, BB, Lotta, Star and Ariel…and the ladies wore sexy brown body hugging outfits and Adam wore..well, barely anything!  There was great mover work going on here….that many people makes doing mover work…interesting.  My favorite part was when they were all in a line from front to back and the dances worked together so well that it looked like they were one big line holding on to each others’ waists….Not sure how he worked that magic…but dayum it was good!

6 Adam & Muse

And….here come the tears….happy tears, but Queenie manages to hit my heart with a hammer some nights and this set was no exception.  She chose “Simple Gifts” which is a Shaker Hymn and it is set to music that seems to me was Aaron Copeland…or Copeland stole it from the Shakers, but she danced as a dryad through the forest to this stunningly beautiful song on a stunningly beautiful set and it was phe.nom.en.al.

7 Queenie

Path hit the stage next with his very sexy slave Rhonda to “Break The Chain” which I believe is by V-day, but I have  it as a Path mix, so just correct me on that one if I need correcting.  Rhonda somehow made sweeping extremely hawt…and Path came in as a conquering crusader who saved our damsel in distress and somehow managed to completely divest himself of that pesky crusader’s uniform of linen and woolen stockings (amazing the stuff you can google). This all took place in a marketplace which is clearly more liberal than Starbucks is today *winks*

8 Path

That brings us up to me and my turkeys, I mean dancers, no, I mean turkeys.  BB and Ariel were kind enough to be actual turkeys and Lotta and Kyshra were sexier turkeys and we all danced around on the furniture in the kitchen to a spoof, “It’s All About The Baste” by GodWhy.  The audience had a second opportunity to discuss whether they were “breast” or “thigh” fans.  There was much deliberation about pie, kinds of pie, the virtues of butter and all things food related.  Me?  I was just having fun because my outfit came with an oven mitt which was cracking me up.

9 Winnie

Thank heavens that we had Selene to make us all look dignified with her finale.  She chose Gin Wigmore’s “Man Like That” and she and Thunder rocked the roaring 20s in a dance hall that any sim owner in SL would be jealous to own, while Carolina, Callynara, Huck, YukioOnna, AnnieSevigny and Kendle were the band that made it all possible.  There is every possibility that I missed someone and I sincerely apologize, I was just having so much fun camming around this set and watching the fabulous choreography.  It was a fitting end to a fun evening!

10 Selene

The camels are already a little skittish about next weekend, since it’s going to be our Sci Fi them eshow.  I can tell you, I’ve already seen some sets being built and it’s going to be a barn burner for sure…of course, that’s what happens when you attempt to land alien aircraft in a theater!  Thank you all so much for hanging with us on your Sunday night, we love having you here with us, and without you and your support we’d just be another mirage in the desert 🙂

A night of new and shiny and some familiar faces returning: Review for 11.15.15

It was another clear and precipitation free night in the arid desert around the Winds. The camels were nestled all snug in their beds with visions of salt bush snacks in their heads. It was a night with a debut and the return of some old friends mixed in with our regular dancers and it proved to be a dynamic evening with a packed house and a raffle sponsored by Angelic Visions!

Annie was fired up and ready to roll, greeting guests and encouraging them to join the raffle. She was looking lovely in a red white and blue number that echoed the colors in the French flag; a show of solidarity against the evil that was rampant in the world last week in Paris, Beirut, Baghdad and Turkey. Every now and then the world sees fit to remind us that we are darned lucky to be able to enjoy our SL…where there may be drama…but where we are safe most every day of the week.

1 Annie

Our first act of the evening was a debut featuring Adam and Must dancing to Ciara’s “One Two Step”.  A great song, definitely butt dance worthy for all of us in the audience 🙂  They started out in a shadow box with Muse dancing a sexy dance for Adam, the set changed and our two hotties danced an even sexier couples dance with Adam wearing some very interesting underoos…the scene changed again and they were on the observation deck of a skyscraper and finished up dancing about the city.  It was a great debut and a very fun set with a lot of changes to capture our interest.

2 Adam & Muse

Star returned to the stage in a front and center interpretation of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”.  There can never be enough versions of this dance…it’s still one of the most fabulous memories I have of the good old days of MTV.  Star Jackson was joined by a wild group of Zombies including Devlin, Path, Lotta, Queenie, Alena and Hitomi….Hitomi was especially horrifying…she was wandering around backstage scaring the daylights out of all of us!  Star did a great job on her creepy graveyard where the zombies came up out of their graves and danced while boogieing around the graveyard. Thankfully no body parts were lost and left onstage 🙂

3 Star

An old friend, Bevin, joined us next with another blast from our past, Lil and Jag.  Sexy, sexy, sexy!  These three wiggled to Demi Lovato’s “Confident” and there were no wallflowers in this set.  The set itself was sort of industrial-post-modern-apocalyptic (yep…totally made that up), but it was cool as all heck and went great with the sexy outfits and sexy choreography.  It was great to see Bevin back on stage with us a Winds, and we hope she joins us more often! *hint hint*

4 Bevin

Lotta was up next as the smexiness continued on the Winds stage 🙂  Lotta found a version of “Addicted to Love” by Skylar Gray which was so hot…she steamed her clothes right off!  The scene was a bedroom with a slightly opaque privacy screen…and lets just say hearts were breaking all over the sim when they realized that Lotta was going to sneak behind that little bit of opacity to tease them while what was left of her outfit dissipated with the steam 🙂  Steamy….hot….SEXY!!

5 Lotta

Our resident cowboy, Devlin took the stage…or perhaps I should say, the piano to a wonderful song called “When The Crowds Are Gone” by Savatage.  I loved this song! I loved the set too, the piano, the columns; some slightly collapsed and a beautifully choreographed dance.  I feel odd saying “beautiful” when it comes to a dance by Dev, he’s such a dude, but it was really moving and I loved it.  I hope all of you did too 🙂  Dev has emerged as a regular who I enjoy to watch every week because he’s very creative and not afraid to try new things!  Plus…..he has those abs you can bounce quarters off of *winks*

6 Devlin

Our closer was Queenie who chose a song by Roisin Murphy called “Ramalama Bang Bang”.  Yep…that’s our Queenie, finding a song I swear will only show up in a youtube search for her 🙂  Now…those of us who dance all use Sanna Jupiter’s animated textures because she’s fantastic.  Queenie went shopping in some of the darker corners for this set…there were creepy fairies, a weird little goblin, some tentacles…and Queenie, Lotta, Kitten, Star, BB and me in our orb which turned us in to crazy color changing profiles against a black backdrop.  We were mirrored, right side up, upside down, and all over as we whizzed around in the dream world that Queenie created.  I think she meant us to represent a nightmare, but I thought we looked way too cool to be a nightmare!  It was great choreography and mover work and very, very fun to watch 🙂

7 Queenie

Just like that, we snapped our fingers and the night was over. We had a winner….rhonda for the Angelic Vision Antiques raffle…so she got $500 Ls to spend on some really wonderful furniture and we had a chance to wander out and thank our wonderful fans for coming out and supporting us.  It was a nice way to end the weekend and get ready for the challenges of the week ahead.  We hope to see all of your wonderful smiling faces next Sunday…which is before Thanksgiving here in the US…so don’t be surprised if you see some turkeys!

It was a cool Sunday in the desert…..Halloween has passed and Thanksgiving is a few weeks away….but never fear, Veteran’s day provided ample opportunity for several of the Winds’ staff to put together sets to honor the men and women of the armed forces all over the world.  VT and I had an IM session where we spent a little time dreaming that we could have a time when we didn’t have to honor these brave men and women for laying down their lives for all of us.  Annie was there to take us through the line up as we mixed a little sexy and sassy and pretty in amongst the tributes.

1 Annie

Jag joined us onstage for a set honoring the troops.  Often Jag is the man behind some great sets, but this time he was back out in front and it was a welcome re-emergence.  Jag was joined by Queenie, Devlin, Path and Rebecca in the desert with some tanks and a plane wreaking havoc on the audience. Jag chose “The Warrior Song” which had a powerful beat that matched the set. There were signs of destruction all around…a reminder that there is a world that gets hurt when we are at war; people, buildings, animals, crops, the very earth is scorched in the wake of war.

2 Jag

I was up second and I chose Jo De Messina’s “Heaven Was Needing A Hero”.  My family has a long history of serving in the military; my great grandfather served in Italy in WWI, my grandpa retrained blind soldiers when the returned to the US, my gram’s brother was a Marine at Iwo Jima and in Korea, and my dad’s family all served in the Vietnam Era.  My husband’s dad was in the Navy.  I am eternally grateful that I grew up in between war times, so my husband didn’t have to serve.  I have a profound gratitude for those who serve, but I also feel a keen sense of loss and can’t hope but dream that someday we’ll all figure out how to stop killing each other.  I did an emotional dance that began in an Army camp but ended in a field of poppies with empty soldier boots at the front of the stage.

3 WinnieThankfully, Devlin was up third and he was able to take us on a wild ride to Carrie Underwood’s “Cowboy Casanova”.  Now, for those of you who join us regularly, you may notice that Devlin has a “thing” for country music.  Did you also notice that he seems to have a “thing” for roosters?  Mark my words…look around his sets…pay attention….I guarantee you that you’ll start to notice a theme… *smiles*.  Frankly, I don’t care what livestock he puts in as long as he cleans up after them and continues doing great sets that are a lot of fun to watch.  There aren’t nearly enough men who join us onstage in SL as the center of attention…so rock on cowboy Dev 🙂

4 Devlin Moni hit the stage in a front and center roll in a great set to Santana’s “Into The Night”.  She danced with Adam, Gracie danced with Tristan and Kahina dance with Ty in a hot and steamy set in some very cute little skirts…and some blessedly bare-chested manhunks.  There was much bumping and grinding and a very dirty dancing type vibe.  It was fun and sexy and we look forward to many more sets from one of our newest Winds dancers.

5 MoniAriel was up and she was joined by Devlin, and Starlena and rhonda in a mashup of two songs from Rent; “Season’s of Love” and “The Tango Maureen”.  Great songs…and what a well choreographed set.  Ariel was in her trademark color…again, if you never noticed that Ariel like purple…well, this is kind of like watching a TV show and knowing that Mulder has fish and Scully feeds them…… They danced, they tangoed…they swirled, they whirled in an out of patterns…I was entranced.  I love the tango.  LOVE it!  More tangoing….I think if more of the world tangoed, there would be less conflict 🙂

6 Ariel

We had a guest last night….the stunning and talented Kat Feldragonne joined us at Winds.  Kat and I have been friends for a long time as she has known many of us at Winds and we were excited that we convinced her to join us.  She is an amazing person and dancer and we have all benefited from her great blog and generosity and sharing of her dance knowledge.  Kat was stunning in white dancing to Sam Smith’s “Writing On The Wall”. She floated down from the ceiling like a goddess from Cirque du Soleil. Her set was black with quotes that appeared behind her in script on her ‘wall’.  She was only accented by that and her beautiful particles in a picture perfect example of less is more.  Maybe if we ask really nicely we’ll see if she wants to come and dance with us again??  *bats her eyelashes”

Kat

Our closer was none other that Queenie.  Now, I’ve often said that Que and I have a bizzare ability to read each others minds.  We knew that we were looking for war stuff and there aren’t a lot of choices on MP.  Then…..we showed up and realized that we both faded our sets from war scenes to poppies and minor panic ensued.  Rebecca, being that cool, collected organizational wiz made sure that our sets were far enough apart that you all weren’t worried that you would be haunted by poppies on faders.  Queenie chose Sting’s “Children’s Crusade”, so we ended the evening with another heartfelt set about the ravages of war.  Queenie started out in fatigues and ended in a field of poppies in a beautiful red dress with a cross shadowed behind her.  It was beautiful, and a fitting end to a show honoring the bravest people in the world.

8 QueenieWe hope you enjoyed the evening with us.  I know that the audience was especially animated last night with many IMs regarding sets and enthusiastic first time fans. It’s always great to welcome new faces into our theater and thank you all for getting out the word and inviting your friends to experience the joy of dance in SL.  Have a great week and we’ll catch you next Sunday in the middle of the desert….and don’t worry…Kitten will make sure the camels are in check!

We all rolled our sugar addled corpses into Winds on Sunday…stunned by coming down from our sugar highs coupled with turning back our clocks in the US, thus creating night at 2:00 in the afternoon, or so it seemed…..but there was a show to press on with and a debut of a new dancer, and the addition of several other new members to Team Winds and we were excited to see where November will take us.  Annie took to the stage to greet our guests and make sure everyone was comfy and that the camels didn’t mess anywhere in the theater.

1 AnnieOur lead off batter was Gracie with a cast of thousands….hundreds…ok….dozens, but when your doing a review and trying to make sure you have all of the right people in the review when they aren’t all listed on the notecard…well, it feels like a million!  Gracie chose The Fifth Dimension’s “Age of Aquarius/Let the Sunshine In”, and a groovier set could not have been done.   She started out with a nice group of hippies in a field….quintessential Woodstock fair.  This faded into the grooviest, most psychedelic set, with Queenie and Ariel dancing in lava lamps!  The hippies: Gracie, Tristan, Kahina, Path, Lotta , Rhonda, Starlena, Moni, Alex, Adaria, and Annie (see what I mean??) danced their way around the stage with wonderfully changing graphic shapes and colors and true to form….most of our beloved hippies misplaced their clothes in the drug addled haze of the 60s.  Three cheers for hippies!!

2 GracieBatting second for the evening was our debut.  The lovely Kahina took the stage to “Sirens” from Blackbeard with Tyrath as our doomed sailor and Ariel, Moni and Gracie joining Kahina as the sirens.  The scene was set with the Kahina on her rock calling to Ty on his ship, and then the scene faded, Kahina was under the water, Ty was under water and the three other sirens came out one by one.  Ty was transformed into a merman and he and Kahina swam (yep) a duet while the other sirens swam around them.  This was really, really cool and original and very pretty.  Welcome to the camel house Kahina, it was a pleasure to be at your debut!

3 KahinaDevlin came up third in the lineup (world series references, though thankfully that silliness is over and we can get back to fall debuts on TV….) and he chose Chameleon’s “Stay, Wait” which was a very pretty song that I wasn’t familiar with but fell in love with.  Devlin’s set was reminiscent of one of my favorite places on earth, Versailles, and was replete with candles and candelabras that made for a very classy set.  Devlin danced an impassioned dance in a swashbuckling outfit.  He was suave….he was handsome, he was compelling and if I was his lady, I would stay.  A great set Devlin!

4 DevlinAnnie and Hitomi were up on deck (more baseball…sorry!) after a slight hiccup that had the team manager juggling the lineup…I don’t know who makes us change our clocks on a schedule completely off with the rest of the world….*points at George W. Bush*….but it always makes this weekend a little challenging in SL.  Never mind that I have more knowledge of timezones since joining SL than I have in all of my years before joining….but I digress….

So….Annie and Hitomi, or, as I like to think of them, Frankenstein and her bride did a cute little duet to “I’ve Got You Babe” by Sonny and Cher.  They did a couples dance in all their creepy finery in a little trailer park in a tucked away portion of Transylvania, or Romania, or Bulgaria…or some other former Eastern Block country that ends in “ia” and may or may not be creepier than it actually is, but being American I don’t have a really good grasp on the geography or economics of that part of the world, so I defer to Vincent Price movie stereotypes.  Either way, it was nice to see our always animated hostess have a chance to show us what she’s really got up on stage.

5 Annie & HitomiBatting fifth…or not in a great place if your in the majors…was me.  I was all hallowed out and enjoying the beautiful fall in the part of the world that I call home and really wanted to do something to reproduce some of the happiness this season gives me.  The set was easy, but I chose Bach’s “Unaccompanied Cello Concerto 1” played by Yo Yo Ma and was looking for a costume to set the mood.  I wasn’t having any luck…so was faffing (wasting time doing stuff other than preparing…sorry Rebecca!) and came across a Dryad outfit and the coolest hair from EMO tions that I’d ever seen and voila…it all came together.  Simple, autumn and pretty music inspired by the season and the fact that I actually have seen Yo Yo Ma in concert.  If you don’t like classical music….I implore you…if you ever have a chance to see someone like Yo Yo perform…go…don’t think, just get the tickets and go…and you’re heart will break and your soul will soar…and a whole new genre of music will open up for you.

6 WinnieBatter number six in the lineup was Lotta…or should I say “Latex Lotta and her hottie latex friends”??  Lotta, Gracie, Queenie and Ariel  danced to something on something that rotated….wait…what?  Wow, I must have been very distracted by the costumes.  Lotta chose The Spice Girls “Holler” and she had this cool rotating monolith, pyramid thing that supported the girls who were much better looking than the original spice girls…or as I like to call them….Sporty Spice, Barbie Spice, Freakish Spice and Super Scary Spice who landed Becks.  There were faders and all sorts of fun things going on while the ladies spiced up our evening in some very un-breathable fabrics.

7 LottaSelene and her sexy friends were up in the seven spot with another fun song, Girls Generation’s “Boys Out”.  Carolyna, AnieSevigny, YukioOnna and Kendle strutted on out on a fabulous Asian inspired set (I’ll be stealing it later Selene) and wore great black and white contrasting outfits with some top notch choreography.  It’s so great to take pictures with really tight choreography…well, easy…there’s a word and this song had me butt dancing and snapping while note taking.  It’s so nice to have Selene and her friends back with us after an absence and she always has us tapping our toes and bopping along with some great music and dancing.

8 SeleneOur final batter in the lineup (dear heavens…that must have been the Mets pitching to us because we batted around the lineup) was our own little chameleon, Queenie.  “Becoming a Geisha” from the Memoirs of a Geisha soundtrack set the scene.  She created the most lush Japanese tea house and garden…it was so serene.  While she was placing it I kept trying to hide in it somewhere that she couldn’t find me so I could just live there…permanently… She did an enchanting fan dance and managed to be both coy and sexy at the same time.  I’m a fan of those Japanese dance animations with the fans…they lend themselves to so many interesting and different dances, that I’m just thrilled that they exist. More dance animators have to do more creative and ethnic dances…we want them to do more great dances with!  I love that I never have any idea what Queenie is going to do from week to week…from spider to Geisha to alien to blue thing…every week is a surprise and she never disappoints.

9 QueenieWell, just like the Mets, that brought our show to an end. Another week gone…another Sunday night transitioning to Marvelous Monday…(blech).  Another night when our beloved fans cheered us on and braved camel poo, sandstorms, and the big mean scripto-thing that yells at us about how many scripts that we’re wearing.  We can’t wait to see you next week…and see what everyone’s wild imaginations come up with!  Catch you on the flip side!
