Inspiration – the process of being mentally stimulated to do or feel something, especially to do something creative. We can be inspired by many different things, and it may not be the same for everyone. What inspires me may not inspire you. About a year ago I was inspired by creators of beautiful and magical dances on this our play ground called Second Life. It inspired me so much that I too wanted to create, to learn more and make a dream come true. The Winds of Sahara Cabaret are very fortunate to have so many talented and creative choreographers grace its stage. They found their inspiration and shared it with us this past Sunday.  Their creativity from the sets they build, the music selections and animations make a perfect combination to inspire others. Our hostess was adorned in garnet and gold a real gem is our Annie. Ensuring every guest was welcomed, every act introduced with great aplomb.

1 Annie

Immy w/Kellan

2 Imrhien

For the first time at Winds Immy wowed the audience as she dove into her PC monitor into a virtual world where anything is possible. With moss-green skin, raven tresses adorned with jewels and a crown she dances for us. Behind her were skulls with green crystal like adornments. Her set was all aglow in green and white, lighting up the night and starting the show off just right. Orion Wide Awake mix down by Katy Perry played over the stream as she shared her art with us. I felt like I was wide awake and dreaming watching this beautiful act.

Ariel w/Queene, Beebs, Devlin

3 Ariel

Found her inspiration at the beach where she went in search of Rock Lobsters by the B52s. Roller skating across the tawny grains, sticking goodness knows where she found some friends to help her in her hunt for these lobsters. They made their way into the beach hut to party Bikinis, babes, bare chests (male chests), lobsters, and sand castles…who is ready for some fun in the sun? Here we come beach!

Winnie w/Adam, Path, and Jo

4 Winnie

Winnie took us for a spin around the world to show us her inspiration. Spinning around on a record player the music came to life with a globe. Winnie and her dancers walked around the world to the tune of Ends of the Earth by Lord Huron. When I hear this song from now on I will be seeing Winnie’s globe with a few of her friends dancing around the world with her. Who would you go to the ends of the Earth for? When you think of that person tell them that you would.

Keith Ringold

5 Keith

Like a puppet on a string he burned up the stage as the Master of Puppets by Metallica showed us his inspiration. As the master sang and pulled his strings Keith began to slowly burn the flames burning brighter and faster devouring him. Teaching us to never trust a master that leads you to a slow burning death.

Red Que w/Pan Carfield

6 Queenie

Que took us out in the woods in her red Chevy truck and we discovered her inspiration on the ride out there. Dancing around her beau (Pan) to Taylor Swift’s Style, somethings never go out of style. Good friends, family and fun times with the ones we love. A beautiful sunset of reds and oranges lit up the sky as her feet whispered across the grassy fields and the trees swayed with the breeze as it rustled its leaves.  A lovely performance from a lovely person.
Adam & Muse w/Jilley and Kellan

7 Adam and Muse

Adam and Muse found their inspiration down the yellow brick road. “Toto, we’re not in Kansas anymore.” With the lollipop kid and lullaby lea, they started at the beginning. We followed the yellow brick road through these really cool looking tunnels that preceded set changes.Along the way to the emerald city Dorothy (Muse) met some friends, can you guess who? That’s right the tin man, the cowardly lion, and the scarecrow.

Baby w/Gertie and Evita the Fox

8 Baby

Babypea Found her inspiration from the Native American culture and shared with us some interesting facts. Skin walkers are human beings who have gained supernatural power by breaking a cultural taboo, such as murder, necrophilia, or incest. This act is said to destroy their humanity and allows them to fully immerse themselves in the teachings of the Witchery Way. They are said to have the power to assume the form of any animal they choose. Some Navajo also believe that skin walkers have the ability to steal the face of a person. The Navajo believe that if you ever lock eyes with a skin walker, they can absorb themselves into your body. Her set was certainly the backdrop for any scary movie or play I have ever seen. At the end it was really cool to see Baby, Gertie, and Evita merge into one.

Kellan w/Ridley, Keith, Tray, Adam, Immy, Nara, Jo, Muse, Beebs, Sammy

9 Kellan

Star Trek was the inspiration for Kellan. It was warp speed ahead as the crew of the star ship enterprise crash landed on a planet filled with very sexy green aliens. Who would have thought aliens could look like that? The crew became enraptured by the green martians. As they danced their way across the planet Scotty beamed the crew and their new alien friends onto the ship. This is where the fun began as the paired off into threes all of this was done to the tune of Beam Me Up by Cazette.

These are just a few of the many talented creators at Winds of Sahara that inspire me to continue learning this fun and in many ways rewarding art. A feeling of accomplishment that you were able to create something that just might inspire someone else, that is the most rewarding part of  it all. Tell us what inspires you?
