It was a delightful Sunday that we had for the show last night. The camels were relatively well behaved, the scorpions weren’t biting any toes, and the gods of SL were kind as were the gods of Rebecca’s SAM 🙂 This means that we were off and running and having a great time with the sim full and Kyra at the helm!
Ariel was our first act and what an act it was! She used the whole theater for her set to RESH “Boys Cry More”. She was joined by most of the avatars within 3 sims including Dev, Path, Gracie, Spot, Star, Sassy, and Tirza……. in a great dance that included couples dances on a stack of trash and group dances that carried us around the stage and down the aisles. It’s always fun to see the whole theater be used and she did a great job with a LOT of mover work!
I took the stage next to Katy Perry’s “Wide Awake”. Sometimes you hear a song you haven’t heard in a while and think….hmmmm, I should do something with that! If you’ve never listened to the lyrics….this is actually a very interesting song about taking back your life after someone has tried to crush you like a bug. I find it pretty inspiring. I went with a morning theme with alarm clocks, beds and some very cute sheep (if I do say so myself) and had a little field day with some object scripts. Queenie, Gracie, Kitten and a new addition to the crew, BB helped me out 🙂
Devlin was up next with a touching dance to Jackyl, “She loves my cock”. I’m not really sure where to go with this….so….here goes…. The scene was a barnyard with Devlin in his farmer’s garb and joined onstage by one enormous……male chicken. I’m not sure that I’ve laughed this hard in a long time….and the crowd and dancers alike clogged up both group and local chat with every horrible pun they could come up with while Devlin danced. It is now, hands down, my favorite Devlin set…..large male chicken dropping and all!
Lotta picked a-ha’s “Take on Me” and she was in black and white….and she was black and white and her backdrop was a wonderful slide show of a black and white comic strip. It was a great interpretation of the RL video and I really loved it. I always enjoy media in a set….I think it’s a tool we could use more often *takes notes and vows to learn more*. It makes such a visual impact and Lotta looked as if she could pop right into the comics and become one with her backdrop, Cool stuff Lotta!
Kismet rejoined us next after a summer break. She chose music from Black Sails with a great set of a pirate ship having what I would say were “technical difficulties”…but the central mast was in good condition and she used it to dance a very sexy dance! I was hoping that she didn’t get any splinters. Her ocean flooded the first row of our wonderful patrons, but like troopers, they just picked their feet up onto their chairs to avoid ruining their shoes 🙂 Eat your heart out Captain Jack Sparrow because our Kismet made this shipwreck look good!
Queenie was up next and she did a set that I’ve been lucky enough to see before…so I was really excited to see it again. Her set was to “Full Moon” from the Twilight soundtrack. Now, we all know our Que lives a little left of center….so her beautiful silks and beautful set shouldn’t have lulled anyone into complacency and oooooooing and ahhhhhing at all that prettiness. Sure enough she shimmied her way through the fog and moonlight and before we knew it, her outfit began to disappear…..everyone waited for that super sexy moment….because we all wanted to see her nekkid……. I’m just not sure that we thought that it would be as a giant werewolf! That brings us up to the last act of the evening, the incomparable Cyllene. She chose Ben Howard’s “Call Me Maybe”. True to form, Cyllene’s set started with our characters living out their separate lives, and then, with that magic fadework that she does, our scene came together with Amenhotep and Marvin joining Cy at center stage, with another favorite effect of mine, the weather system that really looks like RL rain. Cy has a gift as a builder, but also as a story teller, her sets pack so much emotion into them, they never cease to amaze me. She managed to tug on our heartstrings again, and ended the show fabulously.
That brings us to the end of another great evening with our friends and fans in the desert. We were thrilled to see everyone who came out to support us, and we can’t wait to see you again next Sunday 🙂 Stay tuned for another themed show…coming to you on Sunday, October 4th after a one week break so our fearless leader can have a life outside of the “CamelDome”. My hint for the theme show for now is…”hairspray”.
